Photographers : Patrick Ryan

Cape Town based photographer, Patrick Ryan is known for his dramatic and often challenging images, that draw on an early love of surrealism and the world of cinema.  This, combined with a background in Graphic Design, has evolved into a strong visual identity and the ability to understand and elevate a brief, making him much sought after in the worlds of fashion and advertising.  This is backed up with a deep understanding of the post production process allowing him to exercise great conrol over the final look of his image.

He has worked for a growing list of Advertising and Commercial clients in the UK, USA and South Africa, having been profiled by Getty Images as a Showcase Photographer in 2005.  His images have been shown in New York and Tokyo, and led to a Gold Award in the 2005 Photo District News Awards,  a Nominee in the 2007 and 2009 International Colour Awards, a Bronze Pencil winner in the prestigious 2008 One Show Festival in New York and a Gold winner in the 2009 Graphis Photography Awards.

His most notable fashion work has been with Sleasenation and SL Magazine, as well as a constantly evolving collaboration with fashion designer Maya Prass.  His dabblings in film have been showcased as part of the Saatchi New Directors Selection at the Cannes Festival and he has directed several music videos.
