George have always had a vivid imagination and restless spirit. Growing up, he resisted routine. He dreamt in moving and still images. He imagined the light that burns inside people shining outward, giving colour to space and objects, spreading like long fingers over his community to move life like a musician makes music. The things he imagined told the story of his life and all its contradictions; more than anything, he wanted to capture that life.
Soon, George discovered photography and the means of capturing it was in my hands. The beauty in the everyday existence of ordinary people that he once imagined became the subject of his art, through which he captures images focusing on the human face and its unique ability to convey a person’s spirit. There is nothing else like it.
His photographs have been described by some as “lively”, “vibrant”, and “authentic”.
