VERITY FITZGERALD

Verity is a Cape Town based photographer focusing on advertising and lifestyle. She brings people and product together, integrating an authentic feel from her personal and documentary work. She works with many international and local productions, with a decade of on-set experience both on stills productions as well as shooting alongside film and TV crews.

She was chosen to participate in the Noor-Nikon masterclass in documentary photography; and consequently, Robben Island: The Ebb Tide was exhibited as a solo show in at The Association of The Visual Arts.

While her commercial work takes her from TV commercials to feature films, she recently (January 2020) attended the Magnum Photos workshop with Martin Parr in Delhi as a recipient of the Prince Claus Fund Mobility Grant. Since returning, Verity co-founded Prints For India; a fundraising photo print sale showcasing acclaimed photographers from around the globe, bringing critical support to those most vulnerable during the Covid-19 crisis in India.

Currently, her personal practice investigates stories and legacies around water – exploring how past events have shaped how we interact with it in the present. She was featured in the British Journal of Photography's Portrait of Humanity 2021 photo book and her latest project, The Colour of Water, is currently shortlisted for the Royal Photographic Society's 163rd International Photography Exhibition.
